betting that turn will have inflated the pot enought to make a push a proper play on the river.

Sometimes when the board gets scary I have the tendency to freeze up. I didn't have to worry about him having the straight, as he would more than likely raise if he had it, right?

Yea,

You will learn as you gain experience that people at these lower stakes are fairley predictable and you should be able to tell..

The will not always raise but it should give you the clue he is not holding a monster.
